Hello! My name is Dan Balderson. I'm a passionate tinkerer, problem solver, and lifelong learner living in Lincoln, Nebraska. Currently, I make a living as a full stack developer having nearly ten years of experience in the .NET ecosystem.
I was born and raised in Nebraska, where my father instilled a passion for finding out how things work and my love for computers at a young age. My mother taught me how to see the potential in everything by bringing home bits and bobs from garage sales and transforming them into something useful or works of art. I believe these qualities give me a unique outlook on software development. Not only to be able to work out how an application might work, but also how it should look and feel.
My love for software development started while in college at Wayne State. Studying C++, SQL, and Java I learned what could be achieved through software and a whole new world of problem solving and tinkering opened up to me. After college, (and now married to my beautiful wife, Niki) I've been fortunate enough to apply my passion for learning to VB.NET, C#, and WPF to make a decent living.
In software, creating a user experience is like creating a functional work of art, in which you can flex your creative and cognitive muscles. Knowing which colors might work well together, or how to construct a UI keeping it simple and functional, or what kinds of interactions are best suited for the application are skills I am still working to master.
This website serves as a kind of sandbox for me to test my skills, keep track of things I've learned, share my passions, and basically... just tinker. Take a look around! It will never be finished and will always be work in progress. Just like me.
I'm always open to new opportunities. Feel free to take a look at my resumé or reach me at Dan@dbalderson.io. I'd love to chat!
